ConstructWithUs is an online Project Based Learning repository. Consisting of a database with hundreds of PBL ideas for K-12, ConstructWithUs makes implementing constructivist practices in the classroom a breeze. Each PBL idea comes with a comprehensive teacher resource package including: curriculum links, lesson plans, timelines, culminating activities and assessment rubrics. ConstructWithUs allows a teacher to search for a project by topic, or by course.
Unique to ConstructWithUs, is the ability to search for cross-curricular projects. Teachers are able to select multiple disciplines at once. For example, perhaps a teacher is looking for a project including Math 8 and Foods & Nutrition learning outcomes. Easily navigating the user friendly interface, the teacher can select both Food & Nutrition 8 and Math 8 to query a list of suitable projects, such as creating a community meal requiring the use of rates and ratios to produce the desired amount of servings from the recipe. To select the project, the teacher simply clicks on the icon beside the description and downloads a folder with everything needed to get the project going. All of the content in the folder is editable. This means the teacher is able to customize the resources to best suit the needs of the students and the goals for the class.
ConstructWithUs is different from competitors because it is rooted in Canadian learning standards. Projects are created by BC certified teachers. Currently, each project is linked to multiple learning outcomes from the British Columbia curriculum in English, however, we have plans to expand to include other Canadian provinces and include French versions of existing projects.
